I’ve listened to many talks and podcasts in the past which have acted like a tipping point for me choosing to be in the industry or carry on with music, especially when it feels hard. I would love to give back and provide some of my insight and share my own experience and hopefully inspire someone who feels on the edge to dive into what makes them most happy and want to wake up every morning.
Talks by Megan Lara Mae
05.15 pm - 05.45 pm
Megan Lara Mae hit the Pop world with Caribou as her debut single landing her on Spotify’s Fresh Finds: Pop playlist and getting support and attention from the likes of Atwood Magazine, and BBC Introducing. Her spirited electro-synth pop for fans of Fletcher, GRACEY, Griff, and L Devine has since received acclaim from the DrakeYolanDa 2019 songwriter and producer award, winning with ‘Complicated’, and continues to receive support from BBC6Music, Introducing South and Westmidlands, where the Brum Radio team championed her previous single Alright as their track of the week, premiering in the A-list chart besides great talent, Tragic Sasha.
Megan Lara Mae is resilience embodied in synthpop. Described as “being at home in the powerful electropop space” by Atwood’s Mitch Mosk, she persists in the defiant message of not giving in to an easy life. ‘Headfirst’ is no different. The refrain chimes: “I’ve been knocked down, it doesn’t phase me. I won’t back off. I’ll keep diving headfirst!”. Being picked up by Spotify’s Fresh Finds: Pop playlist and amassing over 100,000 streams on Spotify alone, she is keen to keep diving in ‘Headfirst’ to music.
